FOURTH ETXEXPRESS PRODUCT CONFIRMS SCALABILITY OF DESIGNS

New Kontron ETXexpress-CN7 Module Offers Mid-Range Processing Performance

FREMONT, CA -- April 4, 2006 -- Kontron, a leading embedded computer technology company, today announced the release of a fourth ETXexpress module, the ETXexpress-CN7 based on the VIA® C7 processor. The ETXexpress-CN7 fills the gap between the microETXexpress-PM and the ETXexpress-PM and offers embedded designers the scalability they needed when considering long-term embedded solutions.

Kontron´s newest ETXexpress module is compliant with the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers´ Group COM Express standard (Basic Form Factor), built around the VIA C7 processor up to 2GHz, and supports up to 1GB of DDR2-SDRAM. For applications requiring a lower power processor the new VIA-EDEN CPU versions also are available for the ETXexpress-CN7 as an option. The latest addition to the ETXexpress family has 2x1 PCI Express lanes, Gigabit Ethernet, and 4x Serial ATA ports. USB 2.0 (8 ports), PCI and LPC also are supported as standard on-board interfaces. High resolution LCD screens connect to the onboard LVDS with Kontron´s JILI interface intelligence. Analog CRT outputs are also supported by the on-chip S3 graphics engine.

Kontron anticipates having sample ETXexpress-CN7 modules available by the July with prices starting at $400 (estimate) in small quantities, price will vary upon CPU speed. Kontron is showing this new ETXexpress product and others during this week´s Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose, California, at the McEnery Convention Center (booth #536).
