Kontron and AP Labs to Showcase Product and System Design Synergies at AUVSI, Booth #129

Beyond the Booth Showcase Presentation: Systems Packaging - Backplane vs. Modular-Based Architectures

San Diego, CA - August 12, 2010 - Kontron's acquisition of AP Labs has created a unique product and system design expertise synergy to meet the engineering demands of next generation embedded platforms for the military. These synergies, and how they address critical challenges in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) applications, will be showcased at the AUVSI Unmanned Systems North America 2010 symposium in Denver, CO from August 24-27, 2010 at Booth #129.

Among the products on display will be the Kontron 8-slot 3U conduction cooled chassis - FS-5985 which supports either CompactPCI® or VPX/OpenVPX™. The new designs build upon the proven COTS-to-custom platforms from AP Labs, such as the FS-5975 5-slot 6U conduction cooled chassis , that are already deployed in advanced UAV programs. In combination with Kontron's broad scope of COTS embedded boards and specialized solutions, AP Labs industry-leading enclosures and design capabilities fully address the complex needs and SWaP-C (Size, Weight and Power + Cost) requirements for future UAV deployments.

David O'Mara, Kontron Product Manager for Conduction Cooled Products, will be presenting an overview of “Embedded Modular Solutions and their Unique Advantages” on Wednesday August 25th at 3:30 PM in the Beyond the Booth Showcase forum. This session will focus on new standards for small form factor modules with an array of processors, I/O and low power options that have led to a new class of systems solutions.
