At the field, or edge level, data is collected by industrial computers, e.g. by gateways, which process, filter, analyze and act on these data in real-time right at the device.
Edge, fog and cloud applications demand increasing computing power. The interfaces to sensors or machines often require non-standard solutions. Especially in smaller machines, space is limited or restricted in some dimension and need a special solution.
Today, the connection from the sensor device to the embedded cloud takes place via real-time data communication, on sensor and edge level - for example Industrial Ethernet or fieldbuses - and gateways , which provide the transformation of real time data into the informational area.

Kontron Announces Press Conference at OTC
Exciting New HMI and System Platforms Unveiled for the Oil and Gas Market
San Diego, April 26, 2007 Today, Kontron announced that it will conduct a press conference at this years Offshore Technology Conference. The press conference will be held from 8 9 a.m. on Monday April 30th full breakfast provided.
Michael Kadri, vice president of sales, will provide a corporate update regarding the Kontron in the Oil & Gas industry. Also available will be Dale Szymborski, general manager of Kontrons Mobile Rugged Division, to discuss the launch of Kontrons latest computing technology engineered for harsh environments.
All press members are invited to attend. The press conference will be held Monday, April 30th from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. with breakfast served in press conference room D1.
