Kontron introduces cPCI-DT64 CompactPCI processor board using dual processing/low power technology from Intel

Intel Developer Forum, San Francisco, CA, February 25, 2002 - Kontron, one of the leading global embedded computer technology companies, today announced the availability of the cPCI-DT64 CompactPCI processor board with two Low Voltage Intel® Pentium® III processors with 512K cache.
The cPCI-DT64 is a high performance CompactPCI board that features Gigabit Ethernet directly onboard. The processor board is aimed at developers who are building next generation high-density servers for various bandwidth intensive applications. The cPCI-DT64 powers Kontron´s packet switched backplane systems including the XL-VHDS, a high-end, carrier-class PICMG 2.16 compliant platform and the XL-PSB, a PICMG 2.16-compliant midrange platform.
"The Low Voltage Intel Pentium III processors will allow high-density designs to be realized in a single slot (4HP) CompactPCI form factor," stated Joe Jensen, general manager of the Embedded Intel Architecture Division. "For end users, this can yield significant processing power savings while conserving valuable server real estate."
Processor configurations on the cPCI-DT64 will include the options of two future Low Voltage Intel Pentium III processors or dual Intel Pentium III processors at 1.26 GHz (other processor speeds available upon request). The board also features a 133 MHz Front Side Bus, 64-bit/66 MHz PCI bus interface, up to 4 GB of registered PC133 SDRAM, a 64-bit/66 MHz PMC expansion slot using PIM connectivity, Compact flash module support and IPMI support.
"Having multiple Intel processor configurations available will make the cPCI-DT64 a powerful and versatile solution", stated Jan-Philippe De Broeck, CompactPCI product manager at Kontron. "The cPCI-DT64 is designed for mission-critical communications applications such as core routers, wireless basestations, media and VoIP gateways, as well as many industrial and military applications."
The cPCI-DT64 is fully PICMG 2.16 compliant for Ethernet on the backplane (Compact PCI Packet-switch backplane), and onboard are two copper Gigabit Ethernet ports. The cPCI-DT64 is available in dual-slot (8HP) or single-slot (4HP). It comes with a front I/O or rear I/O configuration and is configurable as either a system processor or a peripheral processor board. The cPCI-DT64 board is on display in the Intel pavilion during the Intel Developer Forum at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA from February 25 - 28, 2002.
cPCI-DT64 evaluation units are shipping now. Volume production will be available in Q2.
