Kontron Unveils First Ever High Performance CompactPCI Processor Board with Gigabit Ethernet Directly Onboard

The CPCI-DT64 offers mission-critical computing capabilities

Bus and Board Conference, Long Beach, CA, January 21, 2002 - Kontron, the leading global embedded computer technology company, today unveiled the CPCI-DT64 - quite possibly the highest performance CompactPCI board to date and the first CompactPCI processor board to feature Gigabit Ethernet directly onboard.

Kontrons CPCI-DT64 empowers developers to build the highest density and best-in-class server configurations available. The processor board follows the recent release of Kontrons packet switched backplane systems the XL-VHDS, a high-end, carrier-class PICMG 2.16 compliant platform and the XL-PSB, a PICMG 2.16-compliant development platform.

In addition to the newest generation of Intel PIII processors with speeds of up to 1.26GHz, the CPCI-DT64 also features the high performance ServerWorks LE chipset, a 133 MHz Front Side Bus, 64-bit/66 MHz PCI bus interface, up to 4 GB of registered PC133 SDRAM, a 64-bit/66 MHz PMC expansion slot using PIM connectivity, Compact flash module support and IPMI support.

The CPCI-DT64 is fully PICMG 2.16 compliant for Ethernet on the backplane (Compact PCI Packet-switch backplane), and onboard are two copper Gigabit Ethernet ports. The CPCI-DT64 is available in dual-slot (8HP) or single-slot (4HP). It comes with a front I/O or rear I/O configuration and is configurable as either a system processor or a peripheral processor board.

Targeted at a very broad base of customer applications, the CPCI-DT64 is particularly well engineered for current and next generation IP networking applications such as core routers, as well as wireless base stations and convergence applications such as media and VoIP gateways, softswitch, signaling gateways and IP PBXs. The board is also a good fit for many high performance military and automation environments.

The CPCI-DT64 will be available late February.
