Ad-hoc: Kontron AG boosts Q1 net result by 45 percent
- Sales rise to EUR 95.9 million in the first quarter of 2007
- Orders of EUR 113 million underscore growth targets
- Outlook: continuation of disproportionate profit gains
Eching, Munich, April 27, 2007. Kontron AG, the worldwide leading provider of
Embedded Computer Systems, continued to chart its growth course in the first
quarter of 2007. In the first three months sales came in at EUR 95.9 million,
which is 11 percent above the prior year period (EUR 86.6 million), while the
currency adjusted gain was even 15 percent. Earnings were boosted by an
even wider measure: operating earnings (EBIT) of EUR 6.7 million were 31
percent ahead of the previous year's figures (EUR 5.1 million), while net
earnings recorded at EUR 4.9 million were exceeded the previous year
performance (EUR 3.4 million) by 45 percent. As these figures reflect, the
strategy of boosting profitability by a considerably stronger measure than sales
is proceeding as planned. The company regards this primarily as a result of the
successfully implementation of the profit improvement program. In the first
quarter, the cash flow was boosted to EUR 6.5 million over EUR 5.4 million in
the first quarter of 2006. This equals a cash balance at the end of the quarter of
EUR 65.4 million over EUR 56.5 million in the prior year.
The outlook remains positive. The rising demand is reflected, among other
factors, by the orders at hand, which have advanced from EUR 220 million at
the turn of the year to EUR 236 million. The design wins - decisive for the
longer-term prospects - rose by 24 percent to EUR 62.8 million, over EUR 50.6
million in the same period last year. With these figures, the company is
confirming its forecast for the 2007 business year of achieving double-digit
growth in connection with a marked, disproportionately strong rise in earnings.
