At the field, or edge level, data is collected by industrial computers, e.g. by gateways, which process, filter, analyze and act on these data in real-time right at the device.
Edge, fog and cloud applications demand increasing computing power. The interfaces to sensors or machines often require non-standard solutions. Especially in smaller machines, space is limited or restricted in some dimension and need a special solution.
Today, the connection from the sensor device to the embedded cloud takes place via real-time data communication, on sensor and edge level - for example Industrial Ethernet or fieldbuses - and gateways , which provide the transformation of real time data into the informational area.

The unique lowprofile Flatpanel SBC for mobile Applications
ePanel-C3 is the consequent continuing development of the unique Flatpanel-SBC-Concept in lowprofile formfactor, which was launched by Kontron Embedded Modules GmbH in Hamburg very successfully two years ago.
Basing on VIA Eden CPU there is a scalable product family fom 300 MHz up to 1 GHz available. Besides the very low power consumption the large number of interfaces is highly remarkable, which makes this a system running completely autarkic. Further novelty will be USB 2.0 support, 64MB graphic memory and especially the MPEG2-hardware decoder for DVD applications. An optional Mini-PCI-Slot is available on the rear side.
