FieldWorks and Cosworth Engineering Announce Marketing Alliance

Cosworth to develop applications software for FieldWorks´ industry-specific systems alliance will deliver total information system solutions to heavy duty truck market

Eden Prairie, Minn., July 22, 1998 - Expanding its ability to deliver industry-specific applications software in its systems offerings, FieldWorks, Inc. (NASDAQ: FWRX) today announced a joint marketing agreement with Cosworth Engineering, Inc. The agreement calls for joint marketing of products and services to the heavy duty market, which comprises large over-the-road trucks as well as large off-road construction and precision farming equipment.

Cosworth Engineering, Inc. is a consultancy serving vehicle manufacturers worldwide and a subsidiary of the UK publicly quoted engineering company, Vickers PLC.

According to Gary Beeman, FieldWorks vice chairman, FieldWorks and its customers will have access to Cosworth Engineering´s capabilities in diagnostic software services, engineering services and training. Cosworth will develop customer-specific software applications defined by FieldWorks - such as applications in service-bay diagnostics, onboard diagnostics and manufacturing line testing - for FieldWorks´ computing platforms. "Cosworth Engineering adds tremendous applications expertise to FieldWorks´ heavy duty truck computing solutions," Beeman said. "Our alliance with Cosworth Engineering is another example of FieldWorks´ strategy to provide total solutions to target industries - in this case trucking, but also medical, utility and government - and we will continue to pursue alliances that strengthen FieldWorks´ ability to develop, integrate and supply comprehensive solutions."

FieldWorks´ Roberta Herron, business development manager for the heavy duty market, sees the combination of FieldWorks´ customizable platforms and Cosworths custom applications as a powerful opportunity to meet needs in the heavy duty truck market.
