At the field, or edge level, data is collected by industrial computers, e.g. by gateways, which process, filter, analyze and act on these data in real-time right at the device.
Edge, fog and cloud applications demand increasing computing power. The interfaces to sensors or machines often require non-standard solutions. Especially in smaller machines, space is limited or restricted in some dimension and need a special solution.
Today, the connection from the sensor device to the embedded cloud takes place via real-time data communication, on sensor and edge level - for example Industrial Ethernet or fieldbuses - and gateways , which provide the transformation of real time data into the informational area.

COMPACTPCI SYSTEMS WITH INCREASED HOT-SWAP CAPABILITY
Kaufbeuren, Germany, July 16th, 2002 - With its latest 6U CompactPCI rack, CP-ASM6-PSB, PEP Modular Computers has rendered the wiring of Ethernet channels obsolete, increasing the hot-swap capability of the devices. Per slot two Ethernet channels with redundant Ethernet switches are connected via the backplane. The CP-ASM6-PSB racks therefore conform to the PICMG 2.16 standard.
The 19 inch CompactPCI platform for "medium level" applications offers space for sixteen cards, for which all the rear I/O options are provided. The chassis can be fitted with up to three hot-swap voltage supplies (both AC as well as DC) which are kept redundant.
For cooling the computer boards the chassis is equipped with up to three fans which, depending on requirements, are either mounted fixed or as hot-swap variants.
The 6U CompactPCI Rack PICMG 2.16 is available with immediate effect.
