At the field, or edge level, data is collected by industrial computers, e.g. by gateways, which process, filter, analyze and act on these data in real-time right at the device.
Edge, fog and cloud applications demand increasing computing power. The interfaces to sensors or machines often require non-standard solutions. Especially in smaller machines, space is limited or restricted in some dimension and need a special solution.
Today, the connection from the sensor device to the embedded cloud takes place via real-time data communication, on sensor and edge level - for example Industrial Ethernet or fieldbuses - and gateways , which provide the transformation of real time data into the informational area.

Kontron AG: Sale of RTSoft completed
Eching near Munich, 14 August 2014 – Kontron AG, a leading global provider of Embedded Computer Technology (ECT), today successfully completed the sale of the Russian company ‘Affair 000’, Moscow, after obtaining anti-trust clearance in Russia and Austria. Today‘s closing follows the company’s announcement on 6 June 2014 regarding the signing of the contract on the sale of the Russian company Affair 000, Moscow, including the direct and indirect holdings in RTSoft ZAO, Moscow, and its participations in Russia and the Ukraine. Buyers are the RTSoft ZAO management and an Austrian investor.
The disposal concludes Kontron’s divestment of its activities combined in the energy project business. The sale will be effected by the transfer of 100% of Kontron AG’s stake. The purchase price is approximately EUR 11 million.
