Kontron Communications Changes the Face of Communications

Montréal, (Canada) - July 11, 2001 - President and CEO of Kontron Communications Inc., Claude Létourneau, today announced the members of his new executive management team that will help him to lead the company and change the face of the communications´ industry as it is known.

Mr. Jacques Desjardins is vice president of technology. Mr. Desjardins has 18 years of experience in the telecom, fibre optic and datacom industries. His entrepreneurship and commitment to success have been evident throughout the various management positions he has held at Nordx/CDT, Nortel and more recently, at Teknor Applicom since January 2001. Mr. Desjardins will be responsible for the advanced solution group, product development, manufacturing, engineering, and system validation activities.

Mr. Daniel G. Mercier takes the position of corporate vice president of operations. Mr. Mercier brings to his position over 20 years of experience in global value chain management including procurement, logistics and contract administration for Pratt & Witney, a major aerospace company. Before joining Teknor Applicom in June 2000, he was director of procurement for an emerging electronic and system contract manufacturer for the telecommunications industry, where he successfully integrated and managed new supply chain procedures and JIT manufacturing systems.

Mr. Jean-Michel Brière assumes the role of vice president of marketing. He will be responsible for product management, marketing communications and strategic market analysis activities. Mr. Brière joined Teknor Applicom in 1999 as vice president of marketing. Prior to that he was director of operations at Kontron Electronik GmbH with a mandate to reorganize the French subsidiary and bring it to profitability. He also spent six years at Siemens in Europe where he established key account programs for the French market.

Mr. Mark Silverman assumes the role of vice president of worldwide sales and business development for networking solutions. Mr. Silverman is responsible for expanding the networking solutions business based on Memotec´s product line. He brings to his new role over 15 years of experience working with networking technologies and has held several key management roles and executive positions throughout his career. Previously, Mr. Silverman was the president and chief operating officer and vice president, engineering at Memotec Communications Inc.

Mr. Joseph F. Marullo is vice president of sales for North America. Mr. Marullo´s business sense and extensive sales experience will prove invaluable in expanding sales and market share. He has over 20 years of sales and management experience working with companies such as Gould (Modicon division), Qualogy and Teknor Industrial Computers. With several "Top-Selling Sales Representative" awards under his belt, he joined Teknor as vice president, sales in 1991. While at Teknor, he played a strategic role in developing the US sales network and enhancing the business from $1 million in 1991 to $100 million in 2000.

Mr. Wolfgang Eisenbarth is vice president of worldwide business development, CompactPCI and is responsible for expanding Kontron Communications´ open-architecture systems solution business. Mr. Eisenbarth began his career in the marketing department at Hewlett Packard in E

urope and has since worked in various marketing management positions at PEP Modular Computers and Digital Equipment Corporation in Munich. He brings to his current position 18 years of professional marketing and key account experience, promoting mainly open systems around CompactPCI and VMEbus technology.
