Kontron Mobile Computing, Inc. Announced Second Quarter 2001 Results

Reporting record operating profit for the second consecutive quarter

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., August 6, 2001 - Kontron Mobile Computing, Inc. (OTC BB: KMBC), formerly FieldWorks, Inc., today announced second quarter 2001 results, reporting record operating profit for the second consecutive quarter.

The company, a leading supplier of rugged, mobile computers, reported second quarter operating profit of $909,870 -- the highest quarterly operating profit figure in the company´s history. The company also reported net income of $460,565 as compared to a net loss of $3.5 million in second quarter 2000. For six months ended July 1, 2001, revenue was $9.9 million compared to $8.4 million during the first two quarters of 2000. Year-to-date net income was over $1.0 million or $0.07 per share compared to a loss of $6.1 million or $0.68 over the same period last year.

Second quarter earnings were $0.03 per share compared to a loss of $0.40 per share in second quarter 2000. Revenues were $4.9 million, an increase of 20 percent over second quarter 2000 revenues of $4.0 million.

During the second quarter, the company announced a number of recent contracts with law enforcement agencies and the finalization of the company´s legal name change to Kontron Mobile Computing, Inc., from FieldWorks, Inc.
