Kontron Mobile Computing Unveils the ReVolution: The First Rugged, Mobile Notebook And Tablet PC In One

Tailored for Field-Deployed Professionals Working in Challenging

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., March 27, 2002 - Kontron Mobile Computing, Inc. (OTC BB: KMBC), today introduced the ReVolutionTM -- a notebook and tablet PC in one, with the added benefits of ruggedness, upgradability and integrated wireless communications capabilities.

The newest addition to Kontron´s full line of mobile computers for field-deployed professionals, the convertible ReVolution is a first in rugged computing. With a quick flip of the display, the ReVolution can be used as a notebook in an office environment, for example, or as a tablet or handheld for all-weather data acquisition or other applications outdoors. SwitchItTM, Kontron´s rugged, 180-degree custom display hinge, allows the ReVolution to convert from a notebook configuration to a touch screen tablet in seconds.

"The ReVolution is backed by our decade-plus of experience in designing rugged, mobile computers for users who require more than consumer-grade PCs can deliver," said Dale Szymborski, president, Kontron Mobile Computing. "With our extensive knowledge of customers working in defense, public safety, utilities, heavy industry and other challenging computing environments, we´re pleased to introduce a powerful, rugged, convertible PC that´s truly designed for them."

The ReVolution will be available during the second half of 2002. Specific details about availability and pricing will be announced at a later date.

"In talking with our customers, we´ve learned that tablet computers tend to fall short as key-typing data input devices and notebooks do not excel as point-and-click field computers," Szymborski added. "So, we designed the first-ever, rugged, convertible notebook. The introduction of the ReVolution creates a new category of computing devices."

Features of the ReVolution include:
· Integrated wireless communications technology for the field-mobile platform. The ReVolution features embedded Bluetooth technology for wireless PAN connectivity, enabling users to connect to cell phones, airport Internet kiosks, printers, PDAs and more. It also features optional integrated CDPD, CDMA or GSM for wireless WAN connectivity and Spread Spectrum wireless LAN (802.11b) connectivity.

· World-class ruggedness. With a full magnesium construction design, it is tested to U.S. military and NEMA standards for resistance to shock, vibration, water, temperature and dust. The ReVolution can take punishment that cripples ordinary, consumer-grade laptops and notebooks.

· Powerful processing. At the heart of the ReVolution is Kontron´s new QuickSilver CPU module with a 1.06 GHz (or higher) Intel® Pentium® III Processor-M. The QuickSilver CPU module comes standard with 128MB SDRAM upgradeable to 768MB and operating system support for Windows 98, NT 4.0, ME, 2000 and XP.

· Impressive upgradability and modularity. The ReVolution features upgradable CPU modules, memory, hard drive capacities and peripheral modules. A SunLight Readable transflective display is available as an option, as is an optional I/O Expansion Stick allowing user-defined input/output devices. Two front accessible bays house one or two 3.5-hour batteries, or one battery and a DVD, CD-ROM, CD-R or floppy drive.
